Warning. Remember to read all agreements carefully before entering any business relationship with Mozy. They possess a highly questionable business ethic. I have experienced a lot of trouble and annoyance trying to cancel my subscription. Knowing what I know today I would not have entered into a business relationship with Mozy.

In summary, I would not recommend Mozy to a friend.

This is about as fair as I can be based on my experience. Mozy did fine for a while but as soon as they made a change at their end it became my problem. I had a Mac, the tech admitted she didn't really know much about Macs but would try to help. She never resolved the problem, then avoided my calls and correspondence and refused to return my money (I had paid a year in advance).

Basically, I ended up the same as if I had never paid for a year of back up service, except that I paid for it.

I would not recommend Mozy to a friend.

P.S. I rarely consider reviewing anything unless I love it, but in this case, people need to know. It was that bad.

In summary, I would not recommend Mozy to a friend.

I have used Mozy for about 2 years, after a recommendation from a friend. They advertise their unlimited storage plan and I subscribed. The user interface is difficult and backups were slow despite my high speed internet connection but it eventually Did backup my data. I felt like I was being treated fairly. The cost was 54.95 annually. Today I have discovered that my fee will increase to 1805.79. And my files will be deleted when my current subscription is over. Yes that is one thousand eight hundred dollars! Without notice, Mozy has cancelled their unlimited plan and now charges by the amount of data stored. This seems like a bait and switch operation. I would be perfectly happy to have Mozy reasonably increase their prices but $1800 ?????

I no longer have confidence in this company. Customer support is unreachable, corporate office phone numbers do not work. Do not sign up with Mozy!!!!!!

In summary, I would not recommend Mozy to a friend.

I first tried Mozy a year or so ago. I was never even able to get it to install successfully on OSX 10.4 (Tiger). Several months ago I tried an updated version, which did install. I opted for the $4.95/month unlimited storage. This time I was never able to get it to backup successfully. I repeatedly got either Connection Errors (server-side) or User Errors (client-side, obviously). On rare occasions it would work for a while, and I did get *some* files backed up. After much tech support, I was told that the only solution was to upgrade to OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) so that I could upgrade to the latest version of MozyHome. After doing so, at least I stopped getting error messages. But MozyHome has been stuck on "Next Backup: any moment now" for several days, as well as showing "Last Backup: never". On the other hand, it shows 370,000 of 542,000 files backed up -- but 542,000 is nowhere near all the files that I selected for backup.
