iBackup is an excellent, if slightly expensive, online storage and backup service. It offers a wide variety of different products which should more than satisfy the needs of both home and business users. It is a fully featured service which only narrowly missed out on a place in our top ten rankings.
iBackup really has thought of everything when it comes to online storage and backup. There are a variety of different plans and products offering similar features, but tailored so that you get exactly what you need. Home users don't have to expose themselves to some of the more complex features and will still find the service easy to use, but business users will appreciate the plug-ins which support backing up entire servers. Both sets of users will appreciate the range of technical support options and excellent documentation.
The software provided by iBackup is first class. The downloadable client for Windows or Mac (Linux users can use the service, but must set it up without a client) provides functionality to automate your backups and offers an easy to use wizard interface for setting it up. It can also make your online storage space appear like a local drive on your computer for quick transfers. As well as a desktop client iBackup provides an equally easy to use web interface for accessing your files from any computer or mobile device with a web browser.
Security in iBackup is excellent and implements everything both home and business users need to keep their data safe. All uploads are handled using 128-bit SSL encryption and any files in your storage space are encrypted using 256-bit AES. iBackup also has multiple data centers spread around the world which are all protected to the highest standard.
The one problem with all the functionality and features iBackup offers is that their prices are slightly higher than some of the other services in this category. The cheapest account is around $10 per month for 10Gb of storage space, which isn't bad but you could probably find it cheaper elsewhere. However, you are paying for the extra mile that iBackup go to look after your data and provide you with the best ways to access and manipulate it.
We think iBackup is an excellent service and may well soon be entering our top ten. The only thing limiting it at the moment are the slightly higher than average prices. Feature and functionality wise you won't find much better than iBackup.
