Editor's Verdict:

Box.net is a truly top quality cloud storage solution which is perfect for home, small businesses or even enterprise scale users. The amount of features it packs into the service is phenomenal and more are being added all the time. To top things off, everything is wrapped up in an extremely simple to use interface so that all the clever, complex stuff behind the scenes is hidden away. Box is growing all the time and is recommended by IT professionals all over the world.

Just arriving at the Box web site, with its clean cut style and minimalist design, it's obvious that this will be an easy service to use. The service itself doesn't disappoint and within minutes you can be signed up and sharing your first files. A 5 GB personal account is free too so there's no harm in giving it a try. The user interface flows smoothly and the button you are looking for always seems to be at hand. Even uploading lots of files at once is a breeze thanks to the huge amount of work that has clearly gone into designing the user interaction.

With some files uploaded you can start taking advantage of some of the hundreds of features that Box offers. Something we think most people will be interested in is the ability to share files with family or friends at the click of a button. Simply select the item from the menu by the file you want to share and you can instantly send out email links to the file. This definitely beats emailing huge attachments and you are still in complete control of who sees what. You can access your files and do this from any computer with a web browser or by downloading one of the mobile apps to manage your files on the go. These are just as streamlined, if not more so, than the web interface and we would particularly recommend the iPad version.

Hidden behind the simple user interface, Box actually provides a high quality, secure and robust service for enterprise scale customers. The service can scale to whatever your business requires and custom plans can be arranged. Enterprise customers also get a whole host of extra features for managing users, collaborative folders, security, document versioning and more. Out of the box (no pun intended!) integration is provided with a variety of applications and services such as Salesforce.com and GoogleApps. Essentially, everything your business needs to get started with a cloud based solution is here. Box certainly provides one of the most comprehensive enterprise packages we have seen.

Box is an exceptional cloud storage solution and we would highly recommend checking it out whether you are a home or business user. There are tools online to work out how much money your business can save by moving to a cloud based solution and home users don't even need to worry about price as a basic account comes absolutely free. Check out the links on this page to see one of the most user friendly and fully featured online storage solutions around.
