Editor's Verdict:

Memopal is an online storage and backup service aimed at anyone from home users to medium sized businesses. They provide a good range of plans and products to cater for the needs of many different user groups and support all three of the major operating systems, as well as providing an iPhone specific application.

Memopal offers an impressive range of features that should satisfy the needs of both business and home users. Different plans are available depending on whether you want to backup a single computer, network or whole servers but each offers a fairly similar feature set. All the usual things such as automatic backups, multiple users, and file sharing options are implemented along with some extra useful features like real time back up and support for backing up open files.

Most impressive in our eyes is the number of different options they provide for managing your data. Desktop clients are provided for Windows, Mac and Linux (although Mac and Linux are in the beta stages) which all help with the automatic backup process and integrate well with their respective operating systems. What's more there is also a specific iPhone client available to download from the iPhone App store which will backup files on your iPhone or iPod Touch. This is, of course, in addition to the web interface which allows you to access your files from anywhere.

Security is well handled by Memopal. All uploads are done using 128-bit SSL encryption and data is encrypted on the Memopal servers. They describe the encryption process on their servers as 448-bit encryption and the process involves splitting your files into separate parts so and then using modern encryption algorithms to secure each part.

Memopal's prices are average verging on slightly high. There are a lot of different options and you can tailor your plan to be specific to your needs, but you must pay yearly - there is no monthly option. However, if you pay for more than one year in advance you can get some pretty good discounts on home and business plans.

In all we think Memopal is a solid and reliable service. It lacks some features that larger business may look for in an online backup service, but certainly provides enough for home or small business users. We would recommend shopping around a bit to get the best price, but Memopal will not disappoint.
