Send6 is mainly a business user oriented service, but also offers accounts to cater for home users. There are a lot of limitations placed on how much you can use your account and the prices seem slightly high for what you get, but the standard of service is fairly high.
From its tag line "Send large files professionally" it is clear that Send6 really wants to attract business users to its service and most of the plans on offer cater to this. However, there is also a free plan with limited functionality so that you can try out the service. In terms of features Send6 has enough, but perhaps not what you would expect for an expensive service. Files can be shared easily enough, but the service is very limiting in that, unless you go for the most expensive plans, you are limited to how many files you can share and how many times they can be downloaded per month.
Send6 provides either a downloadable Windows client to help you upload files or a browser based web interface. Both applications are pretty averagely designed, but do the job well enough. However, for the price you are paying you would be justified in expecting better quality software.
Send6 handles security on uploads better than most - with 256-bit SSL encryption as opposed to standard 128-bit. However, they don't encrypt files during storage, which seems a bit strange given that they have opted for so much extra security in transfers. Their data centre is also very secure and guarded round the clock.
There are a decent amount of plans on offer on the Send6 website so you can choose exactly what you want to pay for. However, in our opinion, the prices are quite high given how limited you are in using the service. Most other services like this do not limit you to a certain number of shared files per month. Worse still is that there is no evidence of phone or even email support for the service anywhere.
In our opinion Send6 is a good enough, but overpriced service. Most of the features you need to securely share files are in place, but for the same money you can get a richer feature set elsewhere. We wouldn't say don't bother with the service at all, but make sure you shop around and compare the different options.
