Diino is a fairly run of the mill online storage and backup service with decent value prices. It lacks some of the features its bigger competitors offer, but still provides a good service. It has also made the effort to be compatible with all 3 of the main operating system platforms which scores it extra points in our view.
Diino caters for both home and business users, but in our opinion it will be mostly home users that will sign up for the service. There are not enough features to provide everything a business needs from an online backup solution, but home users should find the service perfectly adequate and easy to use.
The service can be accessed through either the desktop client or the web based interface. Both are well designed, look great and make it easy to backup your files. The main difference is that the desktop client provides support for automatic backup, but the web interface means you can access your files anywhere. We particularly like the fact that the desktop client is available for Windows, Mac or Linux which, combined with the support for multiple computers linked to one account, makes for a versatile backup solution.
Security is adequate for most purposes with 128-bit SSL encryption used on all uploads. However, files are not stored in encrypted format on the Diino servers like some other services do. The servers themselves though, are physically guarded round the clock.
The two price plan on offer from Diino offer reasonably good value for money, but we would like to see some more different options made available. The private plan gives you 100Gb of backup and an unlimited amount of bandwidth to use. The business plan gives you 500Gb of space, but limits you to 500Gb of bandwidth which may not be enough for some businesses.
In our opinion Diino is a fairly average service. It doesn't do anything particularly wrong, but just doesn't seem quite as fully featured as some of its competitors. However if you are a home user looking for a cheap and easy to use service you won't be disappointed with Diino.
